Pakistan’s Gull Feroza Officially Reprimanded by ICC After Code of Conduct Breach Against Australia

Pakistan opener Gull Feroza has been handed an official reprimand, and a demerit point by the International Cricket Council (ICC) following a disciplinary breach during her team’s recent clash against Australia in the ongoing Women’s T20 World Cup. The incident highlighted a frustrating day on the field for Pakistan, who suffered a heavy defeat at the hands of the tournament favorites.

The reprimand stems from an outburst early in Pakistan’s innings. After being dismissed in just the second over, a visibly frustrated Feroza flung her bat and gloves in an aggressive manner as she approached the team dugout. The physical display of anger did not go unnoticed by the match officials, who quickly flagged the behavior as a violation of player conduct rules.

The ICC confirmed that Feroza breached Article 2.2 of its Code of Conduct, a section specifically dedicated to the “abuse of cricket equipment or clothing, ground equipment or fixtures and fittings” during an international fixture. Because this is the batter’s first disciplinary infraction within a two-year window, she escaped a harsher financial penalty but now carries one demerit point on her official record.

A formal hearing was avoided after Feroza acknowledged her mistake. She pleaded guilty to the Level 1 charge and accepted the sanction put forward by match referee Michell Pereira. Under ICC regulations, Level 1 offenses carry a baseline punishment of an official warning but can scale up to a 50 percent fine on match fees and up to two demerit points depending on the severity.

The charge was jointly brought forward by the entire officiating crew on duty, including on-field umpires Sue Redfern and Vrinda Rathi, alongside television umpire Jacquline Williams and fourth official Shathira Jakir Jesy.

Feroza’s early exit set the tone for a rough outing for Pakistan, who are still searching for their first victory in Group A. The side crumbled under pressure, ultimately slumping to a massive 113-run loss against a dominant Australian lineup.
