Jersey Women put on an absolute masterclass in aggressive batting, powering their way to a massive total of 188 for 5 in their 20 overs. The spectacular innings was anchored by opener Aimee Aikenhead, who played a magnificent, blistering knock of 85 off 64 balls, punishing the bowlers with 12 boundaries. She found the perfect partner in crime in Analise Merritt, who continued her stellar form by smashing a rapid 50 off just 37 balls, including 6 fours and a towering six. While Grace Wetherall provided a lightning-fast cameo with 13 runs off just 5 balls and Maria Da Rocha chipped in with a quick 11, Trinity Smith contributed with 4 not out and Lily Greig with 1 not out comfortably guided the team to the finish line after captain Chloe Greechan fell for 3, leaving a daunting mountain for Guernsey to climb.

It was a tough, leather chasing day for the Guernsey bowling unit as Jersey’s batters went on a rampage, but a few players still managed to break through the onslaught. Annie Le Ray and Olivia Morgan were the primary wicket takers, both showing immense grit to pick up 2 wickets each despite being hit for 30 and 44 runs respectively in the high-scoring affair. Katie Robert provided a bright spark in the attack, bowling an impactful spell to claim 1 for 17. While Elise Millington and Molly Robinson did an excellent job of applying the brakes by keeping their economies to a tidy 5.00 and 5.75, Eva Bourgaize, Rosie Home, and Mollie Watson found it much more difficult to contain the flow of runs on a deeply challenging surface.

Faced with a massive run chase, Guernsey Women found themselves under immense pressure as Jersey’s bowlers continuously chipped away at their batting lineup. Katie Robert showed plenty of fight to remain unbeaten at the end with a top score of 18, finding brief support from opener Molly Robinson, who ground out 17 off 32 balls, and Francesca Bulpitt, who contributed a steady 10. Unfortunately, the rest of the order struggled to shift into a higher gear; Hana Atkinson scored 9, while captain Krista De La Mare and Annie Le Ray managed just 8 runs each before being dismissed. With Elise Millington falling to a sharp run-out for 1 and Rosie Home dismissed for a single run, Olivia Morgan scored 2 and was not out, was left stranded at the crease as Guernsey’s batting effort ultimately ran out of steam against a disciplined bowling attack.

Jersey’s bowling attack put on a masterclass in stranglehold defense, completely locking down the opposition with exceptional line and length. Olivia Bastin was the absolute destroyer in chief, tearing through the middle order to pick up a phenomenal 3 wickets for just 13 runs in her 3 overs. She received superb backing from Erin Duffy, who bowled a rare and crucial maiden over to finish with 1 for 14, while Trinity Smith picked up 1 for 15 and Maria Da Rocha picked up 1 for 20 consistently choked the run flow and chipped away with a wicket apiece. Even the bowlers who went wicketless refused to give Guernsey any breathing room, captain Chloe Greechan set an incredibly disciplined tone by conceding just 8 runs from her 3 overs, Analise Merritt was microscopic with an economy of 2.00, and Daisy Fisher kept things beautifully tidy by giving away a mere 7 runs from her 2 overs to seal total tactical dominance.

Jersey’s batters put on a sensational masterclass to dismantle the bowling attack and set a mountain of a total, which their disciplined bowlers defended flawlessly with a stranglehold performance. On the other hand, Guernsey’s lineup completely buckled under the scoreboard pressure, failing to build partnerships or find boundaries against a relentless defense.
