Experienced all-rounder Rumana Ahmed has returned after an injury as Bangladesh announces a 15-member squad for the 2020 ICC Women’s T20 World Cup, which starts on 21st February in Australia. Rumana last featured in the two-match ODI series in Pakistan in November 2019. She also captained the side and played a vital role in guiding her side to a series-leveling victory with impressive returns of 3/35 and scored 31 runs in the second match.

She was later left out from the squad that participated at the 13th South Asian Games. The all-rounder was then out with a knee injury for a brief period but has now recovered to be a part of the 20-over tournament. She will act as a deputy to regular captain Salma Khatun, who will lead the side.

So let’s have a look at the players to watch out for in this Bangladesh set up for the upcoming T20 world cup.

#1 Fargana Hoque

Top-order batter Fargana has a century to her name in T20I’s and has played 64 games in this format which makes her a very experienced player to lead this batting unit. Scoring 949 runs, the 27-year-old will certainly start off as the batter to look at when Bangladesh take the field.

#2 Salma Khatun

Now Salma Khatun is predominantly a bowling all-rounder but is no mug with the bat. She has played 70 T20I’s and picked 60 wickets but the economy rate is something which is baffling. 4.74 is what she gives in an over which is absolute gold in T20I’s. The off-spinner has been leading this Bangladesh unit for quite some time and will surely look to give this one a crack.

#3 Rumana Ahmed

Rumana comes back after an injury to this Bangladesh side and is an experienced campaigner in this format. The all-rounder who is a leg break bowler has picked up 55 wickets in the format and has scored 718 runs with a half-century to her name. She will be a helping aid to her captain as she dons the vice-captain role in this upcoming world cup.

#4 Fahima Khatun

Bangladesh boasts of spinners in their arsenal and has a variety of them as well. Fahima Khatun the leg spinner has been around for a while in this Bangladesh camp and has picked 30 wickets in 55 T20I’s and is one of the regulars featuring in this side.

#5 Nigar Sultana

We end this edition of players to watch out for with 22-year-old Nigar Sultana who is a wicket-keeper batter for Bangladesh. With a century to her name and 744 runs in just 48 T20I’s, Nigar is one of the best batters going around in this Bangladesh side and will be a highlight of this Bangladesh campaign in the upcoming world cup.
So these are some exciting prospects for the Bangladesh team and it would be improper to count them out of this extravagant event at any stage as they have that fighting spirit and can win from improbable situations.

Bangladesh begins their campaign with two warm-up games against Thailand & Pakistan on the 16th & 20th of Feb and plays their first group match on the 24th of Feb against India.

Bangladesh Squad:
