Tazmin Brits is one of the most important batters in South Africa women’s cricket. She is known for her attacking batting, strong shots, and never-give-up attitude. Her journey to international cricket is very special because she was first an athlete before becoming a cricketer.

Before cricket, Tazmin was a javelin thrower. She won a gold medal at the 2007 World Youth Championships in Athletics and was close to reaching the 2012 Olympic Games. But a serious road accident changed her life and ended her athletics career.

After recovering from the accident, Tazmin decided to focus on cricket. She worked very hard in domestic cricket and impressed people with her batting and fielding. Her performances helped her get selected for the South Africa women’s team in 2018.

In the beginning, it was not easy for her to become a regular player because South Africa already had experienced opening batters. Still, Tazmin continued scoring runs in domestic cricket and waited for her chance.

Her big moment came in 2022 when she scored her first ODI century against Ireland. After that, she became one of South Africa’s mainstays in white-ball cricket.

Tazmin played an important role in the 2023 ICC Women’s T20 World Cup at home. One of her best innings came in the semi-final against England, where she scored 68 runs from 55 balls and helped South Africa reach their first Women’s T20 World Cup final.

She is now one of the senior players in the South African team. Her experience and positive attitude help the younger players in the squad.
