The new deal represents a significant boost for Essex as they continue to build around one of the brightest young talents in English cricket. At just 22 years old, Scrivens has already established herself as the cornerstone of the club’s women’s programme, leading the side since the start of the professional era in 2025 and playing a key role in shaping the team’s identity both on and off the field.

Since taking over the captaincy, the left-handed opener has been one of Essex’s most consistent performers. Across 22 appearances since the beginning of the 2025 season, Scrivens has amassed 650 runs at an average of 34.21, including two centuries and three half-centuries. Her highest score of 120 not out underlined her ability to anchor innings, while her contributions with the ball have yielded seven wickets.

In the T20 format, Scrivens has continued to lead from the front. She has scored 312 runs in 17 matches, with the best of 53, while also making valuable contributions as a bowling option. Her 14 wickets have come at an average of 22.21, with career-best figures of 3/23.

Speaking on her new deal, Scrivens expressed her excitement about the direction the club is taking. “I am delighted to sign another contract with Essex. I think the direction the group is heading in is seriously exciting and I can’t wait to continue and see what we can achieve together.”

The England pathway prospect has enjoyed a rapid rise in recent years. Alongside her responsibilities with Essex, Scrivens has featured prominently in several England development programmes. She was selected for the England Pathway squad at the start of 2025, represented England Women A, and captained the side on multiple occasions during tours of Australia and home fixtures against New Zealand.

Her progress was further recognised with inclusion in the England Performance Programme at the end of last season, before she earned selection in England’s 15-player squad for the intra-squad T20 World Cup warm-up series. Scrivens also highlighted the influence of Essex’s coaching staff, particularly head coach Stephen Parry and assistant coach Nick Browne, who joined ahead of the current campaign. “I have also loved working closely with Paz (Stephen Parry) and Browney (Nick Browne) since they joined ahead of this season. I feel they have and will continue to be really influential and important in the development of my game.”

Parry welcomed the extension and believes securing Scrivens’ long-term future is an important statement for the club as it continues to establish itself in the professional era. “I am thrilled that we have signed Grace to a new contract, solidifying her role not just as a player, but as our captain.”

The Essex head coach also backed Scrivens to continue developing into one of the country’s leading players, pointing to both her leadership qualities and her potential to reach the highest level of the international game. “This is an exciting journey for both Grace and Essex. With hard work, dedication, and a supportive environment, I am confident that we can achieve our shared goals and see Grace push for international honours in the future.”
