Amelia Kerr is one of the best all-rounders in women’s cricket and an important player for the New Zealand women’s national cricket team. She is known for scoring important runs, taking wickets with her leg-spin bowling, and performing well in big matches. Over the last few years, Kerr has become one of New Zealand’s most trusted players in T20 cricket and is now leading the team as captain ahead of the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2026.

Born in Wellington, Kerr comes from a cricket family. Her parents Robbie Kerr and Jo Murray both played domestic cricket, while her grandfather Bruce Murray played international cricket for New Zealand. Kerr made her debut for New Zealand in 2016 when she was only 16 years old. Since then, she has progressed to become one of the top all-rounders in women’s cricket.

Kerr has also done very well in franchise T20 cricket around the world. In the Women’s Premier League, she has scored 511 runs and taken 54 wickets in 36 matches for Mumbai Indians Women. Her all-round performances have helped the team win many important matches.

In the Women’s Big Bash League, Kerr has scored 1027 runs and picked up 84 wickets in 71 matches while playing for Brisbane Heat Women and Sydney Sixers Women. She has also played well in The Hundred with both bat and ball.

Kerr goes into the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2026 as New Zealand captain and one of the team’s most important players. She was named Player of the Tournament in the 2024 ICC Women’s T20 World Cup after helping New Zealand win their first title. In the final against South Africa women’s national cricket team, she scored 43 runs and also took three wickets.
