Tegan Williamson’s Unbeaten 58 Powers Australia U19 Women to 6-Wicket Win Over England

Australia, led by skipper Tegan Williamson are hosting the Under-19 Tri-series involving England and Sri Lanka for a white-ball series that includes a 2-match One Day series followed by a 4-match T20 series from 6th April to 18th April 2026.

The hosts were up against England, led by skipper Sophie Beech, in the Under-19 Tri-series opener at the Ian Healy Oval on 6th April 2026.

Australian skipper Tegan Williamson won the toss and opted to bowl first. Ira Aery gave the home side an ideal start by dismissing Olivia Cunliffe in the 5th over of the innings to provide the first breakthrough for her side. Prarthana Reddy joined Amelia Oliver at the crease, and the duo led the recovery with a much-needed 47-run partnership for the 2nd wicket. Filippa Suesee broke the stand by sending Prarthana Reddy (19 off 34 balls) back to the pavilion in the 15th over of the innings, providing the 2nd breakthrough for Australia.

The visitors lost half their side for 80 in just the 21st over of the innings. However, a solid 39-run partnership for the 6th wicket between Mollie Adams (23 off 35 balls) and skipper Sophie Beech (22 off 33 balls) took them past the 100-run mark. England were eventually bundled out for 166 in the 44th over of the innings. The opening batter, Amelia Oliver (27 off 42 balls), top-scored with the bat for England. The innings had as many as 21 extras.

Skipper Tegan Williamson (6.4-0-28-3), Ayaka Stafford (7-0-18-1), Ira Aery (5-2-11-1), Ava Drury (6-0-20-1), and Mia Barwick (3-0-10-1) were the top performers with the ball for Australia.

Chasing a target of 167, the Australian openers Mia Barwick (14 off 17 balls) and Shiloh Julien (19 off 37 balls) got their side off to a steady start with a 20-run opening partnership. Clara Thaker cleaned up Mia Barwick in the 5th over of the run chase to provide the first breakthrough for her side.

Emily Powell joined Shiloh Julien at the crease, and the duo stitched a crucial 32-run partnership for the 2nd wicket, which took them past the 50-run mark. Bryony Gillgrass struck in the 13th over of the run chase to remove Shiloh Julien, providing the 2nd breakthrough for the visitors. Skipper Tegan Williamson and Indira Panelli (22 off 38 balls) positioned the Australians in the driver’s seat, with a vital 48-run 4th wicket stand. Eliza Bristowe dismissed Indira Panelli in the 27th over to keep the fight on for the England side.

Filippa Suesee (8* off 18 balls) joined skipper Tegan Williamson, and the duo guided their side over the line in the run chase with an unbeaten 44-run partnership for the 5th wicket. Skipper T Williamson registered a brilliant half-century, 58* (37 balls), which included 7 boundaries and a maximum, scoring at an impressive strike rate of 156.76.

Clara Thaker (7.4-0-33-1), Bryony Gillgrass (5-0-27-1), Venus Weerappuli (4-0-28-1), and Eliza Bristowe (6-0-43-1) picked up a wicket each with the ball for England, while Maria Andrews (9-1-33-0) kept the pressure on from one end in her impressive spell.
