Netherlands Name Squad for Women’s T20 World Cup Global Qualifier 2026; Heather Siegers Returns

The Netherlands Women’s Cricket Team has announced their squad for the 2026 ICC Women’s T20 World Cup Global Qualifiers, with Babette De Leede to lead the side. The Netherlands side has played in four consecutive ODI World Cups between 1988 and 2000, and they have even made it to the quarterfinals in 1997. The Dutch Women will be looking to reclaim their past glory and secure a spot in the 2026 ICC Women’s T20 World Cup.

The Netherlands have been placed in Group B for the 2026 ICC Women’s T20 World Cup Global Qualifiers along with Zimbabwe, Scotland, Thailand and Nepal. The Netherlands will be going into the tournament with just one major addition to the squad from that of the Emerging Trophy, that is, Heather Siegers.

The team has been in good form lately, with 5 wins from the 7 matches that they played in the ICC Women’s Emerging Nations Trophy. Babette de Leede will have a huge responsibility on her shoulders, with her nation not qualifying for decades, and this time, with a fairly good side, they could make a case for themselves.

The addition of Heather Siegers to their squad would be crucial, considering her experience and her ability to score runs at a decent strike rate. She also has a golden arm, with 28 wickets from the 32 innings she has bowled in. The Netherlands seem like a complete squad moving into the 2026 ICC Women’s T20 World Cup Global Qualifiers.

The Dutch Women were off to a poor start in the Emerging Nations Trophy, with a batting collapse, failing to chase a target of 118 runs. Silver Siegers and Caroline de Lange were brilliant in their efforts, as they picked up 2 wickets each. In the next match, they bounced back with a much better bowling performance, bowling out the UAE for 93. Sterre Kallis was named player of the match with her all-round contributions with the bat and in the field.

Then, they created a strong momentum with 4 wins from their next 5 matches. Sterre Kalis was the leading run scorer for the Netherlands, with significant performances such as the half-century against Scotland. Frederique Overdijk was the highest wicket-taker for the Dutch with multiple scalps in the tournament, and she proved to be an excellent wicket-taking option for the team along with Iris Zwilling.
