An all-round performance from England Women saw them winning the 2nd ODI against Pakistan. Nat Sciver hit a century while Fran Wilson added 85 quick runs to the total. Captain Heather Knight got 86 runs in her 100th ODI match. Pakistan Women could not chase the mammoth target despite captain Bismah Maroof’s 64 and Nahida Khan’s 40.
England Women won the toss in the 2nd ODI of the series played at Kinrara Oval, Kuala Lumpur. They opted to bat first. They didn’t have the best of starts as Nashra Sandhu dismissed the last match centurion Danni Wyatt in the second over itself. Captain Heather Knight who was playing her 100th ODI match, looked in good touch. Along with Tammy Beaumont, she steered the innings. Tammy soon fell to Nida Dar scoring 21 runs in 38 balls. Dar would also go on to take the wicket of Amy Jones 17(22) later in the innings.
Captain Knight and Nat Sciver had a good partnership in the middle. From 2/67 in the 14th over, they took England’s score to 3/151 in 31 overs. While Knight was run-out on 86(100), Sciver went on to score an unbeaten 100. Her century came in 85 balls.
Towards the end, number 6 batter Fran Wilson put up a great show. Her unbeaten quickfire innings helped England end the innings nicely. She made 85 runs which came in 49 balls, striking at a rate which went above 173. Meanwhile, she also hit 3 sixes during her stay. England finished on 327/4.
Chasing a mighty target of 328, Pakistan never looked in shape as they lost wickets at constant intervals. The first wicket was taken by Kate Cross when she caught and bowled Sidra Ameen on 12(25). The other opener Nahida Khan stayed on to make 40 runs off 43 balls. Captain Bismah Maroof also scored 64 runs which came in 65 balls. But the England bowlers ripped apart the Pakistan batting line-up as 4 batters were dismissed on single digits while 2 bagged ducks. Javeria Khan and Sidra Nawaz made 26 and 16 runs respectively but couldn’t stop the team from collapsing. Pakistan were all-out on 200 runs in the 45th over, giving a 127-run victory to England. Anya Shrubsole, Sarah Glenn, Sophie Ecclestone, and Heather Knight each scalped two wickets. With this win, England go 2-0 up in the series. They thus achieve a series win over Pakistan.
