The eleventh season of the Women’s Big Bash League (WBBL) is set to light up Australian summer cricket once again, with action commencing on 9 November 2025 and culminating in the grand final on 13 December 2025.

The month-long spectacle will feature thrilling contests across eight iconic venues — Adelaide Oval, Karen Rolton Oval, Allan Border Field, Drummoyne Oval, Bellerive Oval, CitiPower Centre, WACA Ground, and North Sydney Oval. Defending champions Melbourne Renegades, who captured their maiden title in 2024, will aim to continue their resurgence in what promises to be another fiercely contested season.
History:
Since its inception in 2015, the WBBL has transformed into one of the most competitive and widely followed women’s T20 leagues in the world. The inaugural edition, played at the Melbourne Cricket Ground, saw the Sydney Thunder clinch the title with a memorable victory over cross-town rivals Sydney Sixers. What began as a domestic platform for emerging talent has evolved into a global stage, drawing international stars and redefining women’s cricket standards over the past decade.
Over ten seasons, four teams — Sydney Sixers, Sydney Thunder, Adelaide Strikers, and Brisbane Heat — have emerged as the league’s most successful outfits, each boasting two championship titles. The Perth Scorchers and Melbourne Renegades have lifted the trophy once apiece, while Melbourne Stars and Hobart Hurricanes continue their pursuit of a maiden triumph. The Renegades’ breakthrough victory last season added a fresh twist to the competitive balance, ensuring that every franchise enters WBBL 11 with renewed ambition.
Few players have dominated the league’s history like Beth Mooney, who stands as the WBBL’s all-time leading run-scorer with 5051 runs — a testament to her consistency and class. On the bowling front, Jess Jonassen leads the wicket charts with 179 wickets, her left-arm spin proving decisive across multiple campaigns. Together, they represent the sustained excellence that has shaped the WBBL’s first decade — a period marked by record crowds, global acclaim, and the rise of women’s cricket as a cornerstone of Australia’s sporting identity.
As WBBL 11 approaches, the stage is set for another chapter of compelling rivalries, breakthrough performances, and the continuing evolution of one of cricket’s most celebrated leagues.
