It was a tough outing for the Pithoragarh Hurricanes Women as they went down to Tehri Queens Women by 7 wickets in a one-sided contest in match no. 3 of the Women’s Uttarakhand Premier League (WUPL) 2025.

The Hurricanes, batting first, never really found their rhythm. The innings started with some hope as opener Ananya Mehra held her ground with a gritty 20 off 24 balls, while Manisha Kunwar chipped in with 18. But the rest of the top order failed to convert their starts, captain Mansi Joshi managed only 6, Nandini Kaushik was dismissed for just 1, and Muskan Kumari fell for a duck.
The lower order couldn’t revive the innings either, with most players restricted to single-digit scores. The side eventually folded for just 68 runs.
Tehri’s bowling attack was the clear difference. Leading from the front, Kanika Negi was in sublime form, tearing through the batting lineup with her brilliant 4/12. She was well supported by Sabhya, whose tight spell of 3/10 kept the pressure on and forced constant mistakes from the Hurricanes’ batters.
Chasing 69 was never going to be a mountain for the Queens, and their top order made sure of it. Openers Megha Saini (8) and Aarti Bhandari (11*) laid the base, while skipper Neelam Bhardwaj added 11 runs to keep the chase on track. The star of the innings was Ankita Bisht, who played a composed and unbeaten knock of 31, guiding her team home with maturity and confidence.
Although the Hurricanes’ bowlers tried to put up a fight—captain Mansi Joshi picking 1/13 and Ananya Mehra striking once with 1/18, the total was simply too low to defend. The Queens reached 69/3 with ease, sealing a comprehensive 7-wicket win.
In the end, Tehri Queens displayed superior all-round performance: disciplined bowling, sharp fielding, and a calm chase. For the Hurricanes, it was a match of missed opportunities and underwhelming batting, something they will surely look to work on in the next fixture.
