Achini Kulasuriya is a dependable medium-pace bowler who has been part of Sri Lanka’s international setup since 2015. Born in Matale, she rose through the domestic circuit, representing sides such as North Central Province, Ruhuna Province Women, Sri Lanka A Women, Sri Lanka Army Sports Club, and the Sri Lanka Cricket Women’s XI before breaking into the national squad. She made her ODI debut on 10 November 2015 against New Zealand, marking the beginning of a steady international career.
In 30 ODIs, she has taken 20 wickets with best figures of 3/35, while her disciplined approach has allowed captains to deploy her as a containing force in pressure situations. Though she has yet to feature in an ODI World Cup, she has represented Sri Lanka in multiple T20 World Cups, underlining her importance in the shortest format.
The year 2024 proved to be her most productive, with 10 wickets in just 7 ODIs, showcasing her ability to contribute decisively when given consistent opportunities. While she may not often dominate headlines, her consistency, utility, and ability to deliver quietly effective spells have made her a trusted squad member across formats. Now preparing for her maiden World Cup campaign, Kulasuriya brings more than just her bowling to the side.
