Winning the toss, Hurricanes opted to bowl on a solid batting surface. Ellyse Perry and Healy continued their good form at the top of the order, the duo had a partnership of 72 runs. Healy got out after scoring a lightning 39. Perry on another side displayed her class again and scored another half-century in WBBL. Her unbeaten innings of 72 runs in 56 balls included 4 fours and 4 sixes. After the departure of Healy, she got some support from Gardner and Burns which made Sixers to end on 172 in 20 overs with the loss of 2 wickets.

Chasing the mammoth score of 173, Hurricanes again had a horrible start at the top. Hurricane experimented with Carey this time and sadly, the all-rounder failed to give a good start as she got dismissed early for 4. The experienced Knight was back to the hut soon on 6. Fazackerley after hitting a six and four got out playing aggressively. Though Hall and Wilson tried their best, the pressure of chasing a high score took the game away from them. Hall scored a decent 31 and Wilson got 29. Once Hall got out, the fall of wickets started and they ended up the inning at 133 in 18th over losing all the wickets.

With the ball, it was Kapp who picked up 2 crucial wickets and she got good support from the rest of the bowlers.
