Winning the toss, Thunder opted to bowl on a greenish pitch which assisted bowlers. The Scorchers experimented with Redmayne at the top but it backfired as she got out for 0 in the bowling of Ismail. Meg Lanning and Jones tried their best to give a good foundation in setting a target. Both the players got a start and could not convert them into big, they got out at 18 and 25 respectively. Later the All-rounders Sciver and Graham took the charge of the inning and both scored 27 which helped Scorchers to cross the figure of 110. Scorchers finished their innings at 116 for 6, which was a decent score with respected track on which they were playing.

In the bowling department, Farrell continued her good form with 2 wickets and got good support from rest of the bowlers too.

Chasing the score of 117, Thunders were off to a horrible start. The senior batters Priest and Haynes did not trouble the scorers as both got out for 0. The incoming and dependable Blackwell too got out soon for 6 and was followed by Wilson and Stalenberg. It looked like the innings will end before the completion of 20 overs until the Pakistani all-rounder Dar played an inning of 43 which is her best innings of WBBL to date. Sadly, Dar did not get enough support from the other end, which made Thunder to lose the match by 11 runs.
