Bio:
Nigar Sultana, the captain of the Bangladesh women’s team as of 2024, has led her team with remarkable skill and determination.
She made her international debut in September 2015 and quickly established herself as a key player. In the domestic circuit, she currently plays for Western Zone, a team she joined in the 2021/22 season. Before that, she represented the Mymensingh Division from 2017 to 2017/18.
Across two formats internationally, Sultana has made a significant impact, scoring one century and eleven half-centuries by 2024.
In T20 Internationals, she made her debut on September 30, 2015, against Pakistan during the Bangladesh tour of Pakistan at Karachi. During this match, she impressed everyone with her wicket keeping skills, completing four dismissals. As of 2024, she has scored over 1800 runs and made more than 50 dismissals as a wicketkeeper.
Sultana also holds a record for the highest partnership for the 3rd wicket in WT20Is alongside Fargana Hoque. Together, they scored an unbeaten 236 runs against the Maldives during the South Asian Games Women’s Cricket Competition on December 5, 2019, at Pokhara. In this match, she was named Player of the Match for her outstanding innings of 113 not out off 65 balls.
In One Day Internationals, Sultana made her debut on October 6, 2015, against Pakistan during the Bangladesh tour of Pakistan at Karachi. By 2024, she had scored over 890 runs and completed more than 40 dismissals as a wicketkeeper, solidifying her reputation as a formidable cricketer and leader.
