Group B: Round VII – Shafali Verma’s valiant half-century hands Haryana an 8-wicket victory over Rajasthan

Rajasthan chose to bat first in the 117th T20 of the tournament. The top batters gave Rajasthan a good start. Captain Ayushi Garg and Sumitra Jat both top-scored with 32 runs each. The next 3 batters Jwala Bijarnya, Sangeeta Kumawat, and Archna Saini made 10, 8 and 9 runs respectively. Wickets kept falling and runs didn’t come easily for the next set of batters. Rajasthan made 110 runs and lost 8 wickets in 20 overs. Parmila Kumari of Haryana took 3 wickets which included the important ones of captain Garg and Kumawat.

Haryana’s batters had a really good day on the field. Young power hitter Shafali Verma who represented India recently, carried her form as she hit a valiant half-century here. She made 51 runs off just 27 balls. Captain Sheetal Rana scored 22 runs in 26 deliveries. The other opener Shivangi Chauhan carried her bat as she remained unbeaten on 34 off 35 to see her team through. Haryana chased the target in 15 overs losing 2 wickets.

Result: Haryana won by 8 wickets.
