Group C: Round VII – Karnataka win over Mumbai as Nagaland lose to Baroda in the Senior Women’s T20 Trophy 2019

The first Round VII game in the C Group which was scheduled between Hyderabad and Tripura had to be abandoned. The other two games saw Mumbai losing to Karnataka and Baroda winning over Nagaland.

Date: 23 October 2019

Match 1: Karnataka vs Mumbai

Venue: Sachin Tendulkar Gymkhana, Kandivali, Mumbai

Karnataka edged over Mumbai in a 16-overs per side reduced game. Mumbai on batting first, faltered courtesy Karnataka’s Chandu M Venkateshappa. Chandu took a hat-trick of wickets in the second over, dismissing their top 3 batters on scores of 4, 1 and 0. The next batter Sayali Satghare made 14 runs in 22 balls. Fatima Jaffer and Manjiri Gawade played unbeaten knocks of 20(27) and 10(9) respectively to take Mumbai to 60/6 in 16 overs.

Shubha S Satish of Karnataka gave a good start to the team. She made 28 runs in 41 balls while Rakshitha Kalegowda made 26 in 31 to chase the target in less than 15 overs.

Result: Karnataka won by 6 wickets.

Match 2: Baroda vs Nagaland

Venue: BKC Ground, Mumbai

The Baroda vs Nagaland match was reduced to a 10-overs per side game. Nagaland batted first. In the 3rd ball of the innings captain Vincy Chaudhary was run out on a duck. But the other opener Faisal Khan with Rupsena Khatun stitched a good partnership to take the team to 47/1 at the end of the innings. Khan made 28 runs in 38 balls while Khatun scored 19 off 22 balls.

Baroda though lost more wickets than Nagaland but scored with a much higher strike rate which saw their side chasing the target in 6.1 overs only. Binaisha Surti scored 15 in 9 balls while Hrutvisha Patel made an unbeaten 12 off 10 deliveries. Two batters – Palak Patel and Radha Yadav were mankanded too. Baroda finished on 48/3.

Result: Baroda won by 7 wickets.
