Summary: Match 8 – All-round performances from Molineux and Wyatt help Renegades win

Match 8 Summary: Melbourne Renegades vs Perth Scorchers.

All-round performances from Molineux and Wyatt help Renegades win against Perth Scorchers by 4 wickets on Wednesday at Melbourne.

Winning the toss Renegades skipper was happy to field. Perth Scorchers playing their first game of the tournament did not have the greatest start with the bat, as the Skipper Meg Lanning, got out for just 2 runs. Though she got out, the English duo of Amy Jones and Nat Sciver took the responsibility of building the inning, the duo had a stand of 76 runs before Amy Jones departed on the bowling of Strano after playing a quality knock of 44 runs.

Nat Sciver on the other side played sensibly and was there up till the end of the inning making sure Scorchers set a reasonable target for the chase. Nat Sciver ended up scoring an unbeaten 55 in 47 balls including 6 fours. The other batters did not contribute much to the scorecard as the Scorchers ended up their innings at 132 for 5 in 20 overs. With the ball, Molly Strano continued to have a good tournament, she picked up 2 wickets with an economy rate of just 6.8.

Chasing the target of 133, finally, Molineux got some runs in her account with the bat as she had a decent partnership of 35 runs with Wyatt, in which she scored 24 runs including 5 fours. The medium-fast bowler Piepa Clearly picked up the wicket of Molineux. Once she got out Beaumont joined the crease with her England teammate. The duo had a partnership of 48, which helped Renegades with a solid base for the chase. Renegades, on reaching 85, lost both their English players. They were struggling at 85 for 3 and they required around 48 runs to win. It looked like Scorchers were back in the game. Credit to the spinners Bolton and Barsby who bowled really well. But, sadly Scorchers were not able to defend the target as the skipper of Renegades, Duffin, again came in to rescue the team in the chase. She scored a quick cameo of 17 and was well supported by Dooley with 17, which helped Renegades to chase the target in 19.1 overs.
