Indian batter Jemimah Rodrigues has made an exciting return to the field as she was seen hitting in the nets at the Allan Border Field ahead of the 3-match ODI series against Australia.

In a major boost for India, India’s middle-order batter Jemimah Rodrigues has resumed training in the nets after recovering from an injury she sustained during the 2024 Women’s Big Bash League (WBBL), last week.

In the recently concluded WBBL, Jemimah Rodrigues was representing the Brisbane Heat. In the knockout game against the Sydney Thunder, Jemimah while attempting to save a boundary landed awkwardly, with the ball making direct contact with her wrist.

Though Jemimah suffered that blow, she came out to bat at number three while the Brisbane Heat were chasing 134. Jemimah batted with strapping on her left wrist. The right-handed batter was involved in a 75-run stand alongside Georgia Redmayne. Jemimah Rodrigues scored 43* runs off 30 balls which included five boundaries & one six.

As her discomfort seemed to grow more, and she left the field retired hurt but played a vital role in the team’s nine-wicket victory over the Thunder as Brisbane Heat secured a spot in the final.

Although Jemimah was part of the Brisbane Heat in the line-up against the Renegades unfortunately her performance in the high-staked final was subdued as she was dismissed for 1 run, having a quiet outing in the final. Despite this setback, Jemimah enjoyed a successful stint with the Brisbane Heat, scoring 267 runs from 9 outings.

Following her injury, it raised concerns over her further availability for the three-match ODI series after being named in the 16-player against Australia starting on December 5. But in a significant development, the talented middle-order batter was seen training ahead of the ODI series against Australia.

Known for her elegant play and consistency, Jemimah’s return is a breath of fresh air for the Indian side. Her exposure to the Australian pitches could be valuable against the Australian bowling lineup as she has been familiar with the bounce and pace during the WBBL.

The 24-year-old has been one of the reliable performers for India in recent years. Her ability to anchor and accelerate innings both against pace and spin has made her one of the key batters in India’s middle order. As India gears up for the Australian challenge, Jemimah’s return could equip India to tackle familiar challenges against the hosts.

The three-match ODI series will begin on December 5 with the first and second ODI to be played at the Allan Border field in Brisbane while the third ODI will be played at the WACA.
