A spectacular catch by Radha Yadav provided India with a crucial breakthrough in the 2nd One-Day International (ODI) of the ongoing 3-match series against New Zealand at the Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad.
Yadav, who starred in the 1st ODI with her left-arm off-spin, took 3 wickets for 35 runs in 8.4 overs, helping India defend a total of 227 and secure a commanding 59-run win, bowling New Zealand out for 168.
In the 2nd ODI, New Zealand won the toss and opted to bat first, getting off to a solid start with openers Suzie Bates and Georgia Plimmer forming an 87-run partnership. However, Radha Yadav shifted the momentum with an acrobatic catch. Plimmer chipped one into the air off Deepti Sharma’s bowling, and Yadav made a stunning outstretched dive, tracking the ball all the way before falling flat on the ground yet holding on to complete the remarkable catch.

Yadav continued to showcase her exceptional fielding skills, adding another blinder to her catching masterclass—this one arguably top shelf. This time, debutant Priya Mishra was on the attack when Brooke Halliday charged down the pitch but mistimed the ball to the covers. Yadav, tracking back, timed a full-stretch dive to perfection, landing flat on the ground before roaring in celebration.
In addition to her brilliant catching, Yadav also claimed the wicket of the set Suzie Bates, who scored 58 runs off 70 balls, with a neat catch off her own bowling. Accurate as ever, she conceded just 35 runs in her 6 overs.
