England announces squad for the ICC Women’s Under-19 World Cup 2025

The upcoming 2nd edition of the ICC Women’s Under-19 World Cup will commence on 18th January 2025 and conclude on 2nd February 2025. The tournament will be co-hosted by Malaysia and Thailand. A total of 16 teams, namely Australia, Bangladesh, England, India, Ireland, New Zealand, Pakistan, South Africa, Sri Lanka, West Indies, Nigeria, Samoa, Scotland, United States of America and the hosts Malaysia will be participating in the 2nd edition of the tournament.

It will be the hosts Malaysia’s maiden appearance in the Under-19 Women’s T20 World Cup, while Samoa’s first appearance in an ICC World Cup event. The inaugural edition of the tournament took place in the year 2023, in South Africa. India led by skipper Shafali Verma was crowned as the inaugural champions of the tournament. India defeated England led by skipper Grace Scrivens in the final by seven wickets.

The runners-up of the inaugural edition of the tournament, England, have named their squad for the 2nd edition of the tournament.

England Squad for the Under-19 World Cup 2025:

Phoebe Brett, Olivia Brinsden, Tilly Corteen-Coleman, Trudy Johnson, Katie Jones, Charlotte Lambert, Abi Norgrove, Eve O’Neill, Davina Perrin, Jemima Spence, Charlotte Stubbs, Amuruthaa Surenkumar, Prisha Thanawala, Erin Thomas, Grace Thompson.

Non-travelling reserves:

Maria Andrews, Sophie Beech, Daisy Gibb, Poppy Tulloch, Annie Williams

“We hope each individual takes a huge amount from the experience they are about to have and uses it to continue developing themselves as a person and player. What excites me most about working with the under-19 age group is the constant cycle of new talent and new groups coming through,” said England Women’s Head of Under-19 Performance Chris Guest on what he expects from the group and what keeps him interested in working with a bunch of junior talent.

England are placed in Group B alongside Ireland, Pakistan, and USA. The squad will be coached by Chris Guest and he will be assisted by Beth Morgan, and Dan Helesfay in the ICC Women’s Under-19 World Cup, in January next year.

The likes of Ryana MacDonald-Gay, Hannah Baker, Seren Smale, and Charis Pavely who were a part of the inaugural Under-19 batch for the ICC Women’s Under-19 World Cup, all of them have gone on to make their international debut for the senior side in the Ireland series.
