Scotland and Sri Lanka, fresh off their wins against Pakistan and Bangladesh respectively in their first of two warm-up matches, will now face each other at The Sevens Stadium in Dubai. The game is scheduled for the 30th of September 2024, at 7:30 PM Indian Standard Time (IST).
Squads:
Scotland – Kathryn Bryce (C), Sarah Bryce (VC), Lorna Jack-Brown, Abbi Aitken-Drummond, Abtaha Maqsood, Saskia Horley, Chloe Abel, Priyanaz Chatterji, Megan McColl, Darcey Carter, Ailsa Lister, Hannah Rainey, Rachel Slater, Katherine Fraser, Olivia Bell
Sri Lanka – Chamari Athapaththu (C), Anushka Sanjeewani, Harshitha Madhavi, Nilakshika de Silva, Inoka Ranaweera, Hasini Perera, Kavisha Dilhari, Sachini Nisansala, Vishmi Gunaratne, Udeshika Prabodhani, Achini Kulasuriya, Sugandika Kumari, Inoshi Priyadharshani, Shashini Gimhani, Ama Kanchana
Players to watch out:
Saskia Horley
The 24-year-old all-rounder has accumulated 285 runs in 13 T20I innings, at an average of 23.75, a strike rate of 107.54, and registered the highest score of 61*, while also taking 3 wickets. Saskia scored a century and a fifty in the One-Day Internationals leading up to this campaign and, extending her form, scored a solid 48 in the first warm-up game, making her a reliable source for runs.
Katherine Fraser
The 19-year-old off-spinner, averaging 13.90 and maintaining an economy rate of 5.15, has scalped 41 wickets from 35 T20Is and produced the best of 4/19. While Katherine has taken just a couple of wickets from 4 innings this year, she had a promising start to this campaign, producing figures of 1/23 in 3 overs in the first warm-up game. It is hoped she capitalizes on this return to form.
Hasini Perera
The 29-year-old middle-order batter has added 773 runs to the tally from 74 T20I innings, including the highest score of 46*. Hasini hasn’t been required much for Sri Lanka of late, especially in the shortest format; however, her start to this campaign with a solid 43 off 39 balls is a welcome return to form. She should be backed to build on this performance and can also be more than handy with the ball.
Shashini Gimhani
The 15-year-old left-arm wrist-spinner has bagged 6 wickets from 5 T20Is, including the best of 3/9, while maintaining an economy rate of 5.53. Earlier this year, Shashini returned figures of 3/12 in a warm-up game and followed up with 2/23, 0/17, 0/10, and 3/9 in the subsequent World Cup qualifier. She also took a wicket in the first warm-up game of this campaign and can be counted on for breakthroughs.
Pitch:
The Sevens Stadium is a high-scoring venue that typically favors batters. However, the pitch has a neutral character, with the average score at this venue in the 140s, indicating enough assistance for bowlers and highlighting it as a well-rounded surface.
Weather:
The temperature is forecasted to hover around 34°C, with humidity at 49% and moderate winds. With clear skies and a minimal chance of rain in Dubai, we should have a complete game.
