Charlie Dean and Georgia Redmayne take London Spirit to their maiden Women’s Hundred Final

The Oval Invincibles led by skipper Lauren Winfield-Hill had an impressive campaign as they finished 2nd on the points table with 11 points including five victories. London Spirit on the other hand, led by skipper Heather Knight also had an impressive campaign as they finished 3rd on the points table with nine points including four victories.

The Oval Invincibles led by skipper Lauren Winfield-Hill were up against London Spirit led by skipper Heather Knight in the eliminator at the Kennington Oval, London. The London Spirit skipper Heather Knight won the toss and opted to field first. After being inserted to bat first, the Oval Invincibles openers Paige Scholfield and skipper Lauren Winfield-Hill got their side off to a flying start with a 21-run opening partnership.

Charlie Dean picked up the wicket of Paige Scholfield to provide the first breakthrough for London Spirit. Alice Capsey joined skipper Lauren Winfield-Hill at the crease and the duo failed to stitch a substantial partnership as Sarah Glenn picked up the big wicket of the opposition skipper Lauren Winfield-Hill to provide the 2nd breakthrough for her side.

Marizanne Kapp joined Alice Capsey at the crease and the duo stitched a much-needed 45-run partnership for the 3rd wicket to take their side close to the 100-run mark. Danielle Gibson picked up the wicket of Alice Capsey to provide the 3rd breakthrough London Spirit. Oval Invincibles eventually ended up with a total of 113/9 in their quota of 100 deliveries. Alice Capsey (30 off 33 balls), Marizanne Kapp (26 off 26 balls), skipper Lauren Winfield-Hill (17 off 10 balls), and Laura Harris (16 off 7 balls) were the top performers with the bat for Oval Invincibles.

Wicket-keeper batter Georgia Redmayne (53* off 47 balls), skipper Heather Knight (36 off 23 balls), and Meg Lanning (22 off 16 balls) were the top performers with the bat for London Spirit.

Marizanne Kapp (20-9-19-1), Amanda-Jade Wellington (20-4-21-1) were the top performers with the ball for Oval Invincibles. Wicket-keeper batter Georgia Redmayne was awarded the Player of the Match for her brilliant match-winning performance (53* off 47 balls), with the bat. She played a crucial role in helping her side book their spot for their maiden appearance in the Women’s Hundred final. They will face Welsh Fire led by skipper Tammy Beaumont in the final on 18th August 2024 at Lord’s London. We will witness a new winner in the ongoing 4th edition of the Women’s Hundred as both, the two-time champions Oval Invincibles and Southern Brave are knocked out.
