Amy Jones and skipper Ellyse Perry shines as Birmingham Phoenix continue to pile on the misery for Southern Brave

The Northern Superchargers led by skipper Hollie Armitage defeated the Oval Invincibles led by skipper Lauren Winfield-Hill by 82 runs at the Kennington Oval in the 12th match of the season. Birmingham Phoenix led by skipper Ellyse Perry was all set to face the Southern Brave led by skipper Georgia Adams at Edgbaston, Birmingham in the 13th match of the season.

Southern Brave skipper Georgia Adams won the toss and opted to field first. After being inserted to bat first, the Birmingham Phoenix openers Sterre Kalis and Sophie Devine got their side off to a steady start with a 20-run opening stand. Tilly Corteen-Coleman picked up the wicket of Sophie Devine to provide the first breakthrough for Southern Brave. Sterre Kalis soon followed her back to the pavilion to provide the 2nd breakthrough for Southern Brave.

Wicket-keeper batter Amy Jones joined skipper Ellyse Perry at the crease and the duo stitched a much-needed 23-run partnership for the 3rd wicket to take their side past the 50-run mark. The Southern Brave skipper Georgia Adams picked up the big wicket of the opposition skipper Ellyse Perry to provide the 3rd breakthrough for her side. Richa Ghosh joined wicket-keeper batter Amy Jones at the crease and the duo stitched another crucial 28-run partnership for the 4th wicket to take their side close to the 100-run mark.

Lauren Cheatle cleaned up Richa Ghosh to provide the 4th breakthrough for Southern Brave. Seren Smale soon followed her back to the pavilion to provide the 5th breakthrough for the Southern Brave. Emily Arlott joined wicket-keeper batter Amy Jones at the crease and the duo stitched a much-needed 35-run partnership for the 6th wicket to take their side past the 120-run mark. Freya Kemp picked up the wicket of the wicket-keeper batter Amy Jones to provide the much-needed breakthrough for her side. She completed her well-deserved half-century before getting dismissed.

Birmingham Phoenix eventually ended up with a total of 137/7 in their quota of 100 deliveries. Naomi Dattani joined Chloe Tryon at the crease and the duo stitched a crucial 21-run partnership for the 6th wicket to take their side past the 100-run mark. Charis Pavely came back and picked up the wicket of Chloe Tryon to provide the 6th breakthrough for her side. Southern Brave suffered a collapse as they lost their next four wickets for just eight runs. As a result, they were bundled out for just 121 with three balls to spare, falling short of the target by 16 runs.
