Annabel Sutherland’s all-round prowess on display as Northern Superchargers get their first victory of the season
Manchester Originals led by skipper Sophie Ecclestone defeated the Southern Brave led by skipper Georgia Adams by six wickets at The Rose Bowl, Southampton in the 11th match of the season. Oval Invincibles led by skipper Lauren Winfield-Hill was all set to face Northern Superchargers led by skipper Hollie Armitage in the 12th match of the season at the Kennington Oval, London.
Oval Invincibles skipper Lauren Winfield-Hill won the toss and opted to field first. After being inserted to bat first, Northern Superchargers got off to a poor start as they lost the wicket of Davina Perrin on the 7th ball of the innings. Rachel Slater provided the first breakthrough for Oval Invincibles. Phoebe Litchfield joined skipper Hollie Armitage at the crease and the duo stitched a much-needed 27-run partnership for the 2nd wicket to lead some sort of recovery for their side. Rachel Slater came back and picked up the big wicket of the opposition skipper Hollie Armitage to provide the 2nd breakthrough for her side.
Annabel Sutherland joined Phoebe Litchfield at the crease and the duo stitched a crucial 50-run partnership for the 3rd wicket to take their side close to the 100-run mark. Maddy Villiers picked up the wicket of Phoebe Litchfield to provide the much-needed breakthrough for Oval Invincibles. She fell six runs short of her well-deserved half-century. Wicket-keeper batter Bess Heath joined Annabel Sutherland at the crease and the duo stitched another crucial 42-run partnership for the 4th wicket to take their side past the 120-run mark. Sophia Smale picked up the wicket of the wicket-keeper batter Bess Heath to provide the 4th breakthrough for her side.
Northern Superchargers eventually posted a total of 146/4 in their quota of 100 deliveries. Annabel Sutherland (63* off 40 balls), Phoebe Litchfield (44 off 30 balls), and wicket-keeper batter Bess Heath (15 off 11 balls) were the top performers with the bat for the Northern Superchargers. Rachel Slater (15-10-11-2 ), Sophia Smale (20-6-22-1), Maddy Villiers (15-7-21-1), and Marizanne Kapp (20-9-25-0) were the top performers with the ball for the Oval Invincibles.

Chasing a target of 147, Oval Invincibles got off to a horrible start as they lost half their side, just 22 balls into the run chase. Amanda-Jade Wellington joined Paige Schofield at the crease and the duo stitched a much-needed 32-run partnership for the 6th wicket to take their side past the 50-run mark.
