After completing her international duties, Indian vice-captain Smriti Mandhana has arrived in Southampton to join the defending champions Southern Brave for the 2024 edition of The Hundred Women’s competition. Mandhana recently competed in the Women’s Asia Cup Final, where India lost to Sri Lanka by 8 wickets.
The Hundred, a 100-ball cricket tournament, organized by the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB), began in 2021. The 2024 season, running from July 23 to August 18, features eight men’s and women’s teams from major cities across England and Wales.
Mandhana, a left-handed opening batter, has been a key player for Southern Brave since the tournament’s inaugural season, accumulating 616 runs in 24 innings. The team was runners-up in the first two seasons and champions the last year.

In her recent performances, Mandhana has shown remarkable form. She scored 592 runs and took her maiden international wicket in the series against South Africa, earning the ICC Women’s Player of the Month award for June 2024. In her most recent campaign, the 2024 Women’s Asia Cup, she accumulated 173 runs in four innings, with the highest score of 60, averaging 57.66 and maintaining a strike rate of 137.30.
So far, in the current edition of The Hundred, Southern Brave have played two matches, with one loss and one tie, placing them sixth with just a point. The defending champions will rely on Mandhana to deliver strong performances.
