Nothing hampers a sportsperson’s career more than an injury, it not only just halts their career but also forces them to take a 360-degree turn in their life. It’s as much as a toll on the person’s mental health as it’s on their physical health, starting from scratch is always difficult, especially when you’ve already achieved a particular feat in your career.

Protea women’s bowler Ayabonga Khaka who has taken 62 wickets for South Africa in ODIs and has a further 17 in T20s went through a shoulder injury and feared that maybe that was the end of her career, which was clear by this statement of hers given to the SuperSport website:

“It’s been tough, it’s been frustrating. Sometimes it’s even gone to the extent of asking myself whether I’m ever going to bowl again.”

She recently made a comeback as she played for the national Emerging team against their Bangladesh counterparts before this the last game she played was for the national team during their tour to England last year. She continued by saying, “It’s great to be back working on my skills again, I’ve missed that, so, for now, I’m enjoying the moment, not rushing or anything like that, just easing my way back into the routine.”

We are excited to see her back in action playing for her national team.
