The Indian Women’s team led by skipper Harmanpreet Kaur is hosting South Africa led by skipper Laura Wolvaardt for an all-format series that includes a three-match One Day series at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium, in Bengaluru, followed by a one-off Test match, and then a three-match T20I series at the MA. Chidambaram Stadium, Chepauk, in Chennai. The series will get underway on 16th June 2024 and will conclude on 9th July 2024.

India and South Africa both handed debut caps to Asha Sobhana, from Trivandrum, Kerala at the age of 33 years and 92 days, she became the oldest Indian women to make her ODI debut. Others in the list are Farokh Engineer 36y 138 days, Ajit Wadekar 33y 103 days, Dilip Doshi 32y 350 days, and Syed Abid Ali 32y 307 days. As far as the Women’s game is concerned, the others in the list are, Seema Pujare 31y 238 days, Varsha Raffel 29y 268 days, Soniya Dabir 29y 222 days, and Saika Ishaque 28 years 81 days.

Indian skipper Harmanpreet Kaur handed the debut cap to the leg-spinner. She made her international debut earlier this year in a T20I on 6th May 2024 against Bangladesh in Sylhet. She also became India’s oldest T20I debutant in women’s cricket. The others in the list are Rahul Dravid (38 years 230 days) vs England on 31st Aug 2011, Sachin Tendulkar (33 years and 217 days) vs South Africa 1st Dec 2006.

She has picked up four wickets in a couple of innings in the T20I format so far. The 23-year-old all-rounder Annerie Dercksen from South Africa was also handed a debut cap in the 1st ODI. She made her international debut in a T20I against the West Indies on 25th January 2023. She has scored 12 runs and picked up a couple of wickets with the ball so far in the T20I format.
