Brief History of Saudi Arabia Women’s National Cricket Team
The Saudi Arabia national women’s cricket team represents Saudi Arabia in international women’s cricket competitions. The team is organized and overseen by the Saudi Arabian Cricket Federation, which attained associate membership of the International Cricket Council (ICC) in 2016, facilitating their participation in international cricket events. With the granting of full Women’s Twenty20 International (WT20I) status to all ICC members in April 2018, Saudi Arabia embarked on a new era of women’s cricket.
Historical Highlights – Saudi Arabia Women’s National Cricket Team
In March 2022, the Saudi Arabia women’s team made their international debut at the 2022 GCC Women’s Gulf Cup against Kuwait on March 20, 2022, at the Oman Cricket Academy Ground Turf 2, Muscat. Despite finishing in last place and losing all their matches, the tournament provided invaluable exposure and learning opportunities for the young Saudi team, with an average player age of 15-16 years old.
