On 17th August, former England Women cricketer Eileen Ash was honoured with a large portrait of hers at England’s Lord’s Cricket Ground. The 107-year-old is the oldest living international cricketer – male or female.

Reacting to the unveiling of her portrait, Ash said, “It is marvellous. I think it is absolutely brilliant and I feel 200 years old!” Praising the artist she said, “He is the best artist I have ever known, he is brilliant, absolutely brilliant.”
In July 2017, she rang the bell at Lord’s to signal the start of the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup. The same year, she also passed her driving test. Talking to Mel Jones she revealed that ‘red wine and yoga’ keeps her fit even at this age. The former cricketer is also an honorary life member of the Marylebone Cricket Club.
