Bio:
Sophie Molineux began her cricket journey early, recognized for her talent at just ten years old by former Australian coach John Harmer. She quickly rose through the ranks and notable achievements from her junior years include a hat trick in the year 2013- 14 in U-18 state.
In her maiden season of the Women’s National Cricket League, she earned the Betty Wilson Young Cricketer of the Year Award in 2017. In the Women’s Big Bash League, Molineux made her mark with stellar performances for the Melbourne Renegades, highlights include winning the Young Gun Award for WBBL season- 03 and being named the Renegades MVP of WBBL season- 04.
Internationally, Molineux made her debut for Australia in a WT20I against India in 2018. Quickly becoming a vital asset to the team, she played a pivotal role in Australia’s victorious campaign at the 2018 ICC Women’s World T20 and contributed significantly to their second consecutive T20 World Cup title in 2020. She has a total of 6 World Cup wickets in 8 innings. Sophie has accumulated a total of 26 wickets in 27 innings with a 5.94 economy including a 4-fer against Pakistan.
Her journey has seen challenges including a shoulder injury in 2019 but she rebounded with resilience making impactful contributions on and off the field.
