Beth Mooney continues to top Batting Chart in WBBL

The veteran Australian wicket-keeper batter Beth Mooney over the years has established herself as one of the stalwarts of the Australian batting unit. Not only for her national side, she is also establishing her legacy as a prominent batter in the franchise leagues around the world.

She made her Women’s Big Bash League debut on 5th December 2015 for the Brisbane Heat. She scored 2576 runs at a strike rate of 122.60 and an impressive average of 45.19 in 75 innings. Her tally of runs included 25 half-centuries and a century. Her best performance with the bat for the Brisbane Heat came on 12th January 2019 against the Sydney Thunder when she scored 102 runs at an impressive strike rate of 185.45. Her tally of runs included 14 boundaries and a maximum en route to her maiden century in the Women’s Big Bash League.

She moved to Perth Scorchers in the 6th edition of the WBBL in the year 2020. She scored 2089 runs at a strike rate of 127.22 and an impressive average of 49.73. Her tally of runs included 16 half-centuries and a couple of centuries. Her best performance with the bat for the Perth Scorchers came in the ongoing edition of the WBBL on 12th November 2023 against Sydney Thunder. She stayed unbeaten on 101 at an impressive strike rate of 165.57. Her tally of runs included 17 boundaries.

She has been in sublime form, averaging over 560 runs across the last five seasons. In the ongoing edition of the Women’s Big Bash League, she scored 557 runs at an impressive strike rate of 143.18 and an astonishing average of 50.63 in 15 innings. Her tally of runs included five half-centuries and a century. Her tournament came to an end as the leading run-scorer of the tournament. However, unfortunately, she won’t be able to add to her tally of 557 runs as the Perth Scorchers led by skipper Sophie Devine were knocked out of the tournament courtesy of their 67-run defeat against the Brisbane Heat in the Challenger.

She has been announced as the winner of the Golden Bat award this season for scoring the most number of runs this season so far. In the last four seasons 2020, 2021, 2022, and 2023 she has consistently managed to end the season as the leading run-scorer of the tournament which is a true testament to her skills, dedication, and consistency across the last few seasons.
