The Weber’s Women’s Big Bash League (WBBL) has revealed the list of players elevated to the exclusive Platinum Players List for the inaugural overseas draft of WBBL.
As many as 25 International stars have been chosen to be on the Platinum list for the draft. These 25 players are from overseas countries like England (7), New Zealand (2), India (5), South Africa (6), Sri Lanka (1), West Indies (3), and Pakistan (1).
This season, an overseas draft has been introduced in the WBBL for the first time. Earlier, WBBL had revealed the 4 grades the overseas players will be put into. The players in the Platinum grade will earn AUD$110,000 (₹58,76,385).
International stars like Amelia Kerr, Sophie Devine, Harmanpreet Kaur, Hayley Mathews, Nida Dar, Heather Knight, Jemimah Rodrigues, Danni Wyatt, and many more have been listed as platinum players.

These 25 players will be the only players who can be picked in the first round of the draft, a few of these platinum players can be picked in the second round along with gold players.
A total of 17 players of these 25 can be retained by teams if they fulfill any of the following criteria:
1) Have been in a Big Bash team squad for a minimum of two seasons and haven’t been contracted to another team since
2) Have been in a Big Bash team squad the previous season
3) Was in a team squad last season but did not play in the starting 13 and have been approved by the Big Bash Technical Committee
4) Is otherwise approved by the Big Bash Technical Committee due to exceptional circumstances.
The overseas players draft will take place on 3rd September at 5:30 PM Australian Eastern Standard Time (1:30 PM IST).
WBBL is scheduled to start on 19th October with 8 teams participating in it. The season opener will be played by Sydney Sixers and Melbourne Stars.
