Squads:

South Australia Scorpions – Jemma Barsby (C), Bridget Patterson (VC), Emma de Broughe, Josie Dooley, Eleanor Larosa, Anesu Mushangwe, Courtney Neale, Annie O’Neil, Maddie Penna, Kate Peterson, Courtney Webb, Amanda-Jade Wellington, Ella Wilson

Western Australia – Chloe Piparo (C), Chloe Ainsworth, Zoe Britcliffe, Mathilda Carmichael, Piepa Cleary, Maddy Darke, Ashley Day, Amy Edgar, Lisa Griffith, Shay Manolini, Lilly Mills, Poppy Stockwell, Georgia Wyllie

Players to watch out:

Emma de Broughe

The 23-year-old dual-sport athlete has looked good in the WNCL, especially over the past couple of seasons, displaying consistency. In ’21-22, Emma amassed 287 runs, including the highest of 93, from only 8 games and finished as the 4th highest run-scorer in the following season, piling up 554 runs, including the best of 112, from 13 innings. With scores of 77, 28, and 49, Emma has yet again kicked off her season brilliantly.

Amanda-Jade Wellington

The 26-year-old leg-spinner has played 23 games for the senior Australian side. In her previous WNCL season, Amanda chipped in, scoring 116 runs from 9 outings, and scalped 22 wickets in 11 bowling innings. Following a wicketless yet economical outing in the WNCL opener this summer, she picked up successive 3-fers and is now the leading wicket-taker for South Australia in WNCL history.

Lisa Griffith

The 31-year-old batter, in her previous WNCL season, averaged 25.71, accumulating 180 runs, including the highest of 67, from 7 games. Lisa wasn’t required with the bat in the side’s opening fixture this summer; however, in the following couple of games, registering scores of 45* and 32, she’s warmed up well to feature for the Perth Scorchers in the forthcoming 09 edition of the Women’s Big Bash League (W-BBL).

Chloe Ainsworth

The 18-year-old, late last year in the Cricket Australia Under-19 National Female Championships, scored one half-century and picked up 10 wickets, earning her a senior domestic team cap days later. Though an injury cut short Ainsworth’s Under-19 World Cup journey to just 1 game, where she returned figures of 2/9, she announced her comeback with a 3-fer (3/27) in the WNCL this edition and followed up with figures of 1/54 (10).

Pitch:

The 22 yards at the venue provide a somewhat neutral playing field as the conditions favor both batters and bowlers. Pacers in particular benefit from the conditions, and a score in the 230s can be deemed as a competitive one on this wicket.

Weather:

The showers on the radar do not pose a threat to the game as the weather is forecasted to stay clear and bright during match hours. The temperature is expected to hover around 17°C, with moderate winds and humidity at 62%.

Fantasy playing XI:
