Match no. 09 of the ongoing edition of the Women’s Super50 Cup will see Guyana and the Leeward Islands lock horns at Warner Park, Basseterre, on the 12th of May, 2023, at 7:30 PM Indian Standard Time (IST).
In both of their outings this season, Guyana has struggled to perform with the bat, resulting in losses by 9 wickets. Similarly, the Leeward Islands have also been unable to defend their low totals and have suffered consecutive defeats.
Squads:
Guyana – Shemaine Campbelle (C), Shabika Gajnabi, Plaffianna Millington, Sheneta Grimmond, Ashmini Munisar, Katana Mentore, Cherry-Ann Fraser, Mandy Mangru, Kaysia Schultz, Realeanna Grimmond, Cyanna Retemiah, Nyia Latchman, Tilleya Madramootoo, Analesia D’ Aguiar

Players to watch out:
Shemaine Campbelle
The 30-year-old in One-Day Internationals (ODIs), in 88 innings has scored 1367 runs, and in 38 innings with the ball has struck 21 times. Shemaine in the opener departed cheaply for 8 and got going in 2nd game, scoring 21 runs.
Mandy Mangru
The 23-year-old made her ODI debut early last year scoring a 15 and hasn’t played a game since. The opener eyeing a comeback into the national set-up needs runs and has got to look to convert her starts of 11 and 18.
Divya Saxena
The 29-year-old Canadian international previously played international cricket for Kenya as well. Divya in the opener, scored a 33-ball 30, and in the following game, recorded batting figures of a run-a-ball 44.
Rozel Liburd
The 21-year-old right-arm leg-break bowler in the tournament opener delivered figures of 0/31 off 5 overs and bettered her performance in the following game with figures of 0/26 off 6 overs. Small sample size, but one to keep an eye on.
Pitch:
The 22 yards at the venue pleases both spinners and pacers, who employ various bowling variations. Ideally, the batters should look to spend some time in the middle and then choose to switch gears, seeking to play aggressive cricket, as a total in the 180s would result in a competitive game.
Weather:
With moderate winds, humidity of 68%, and the temperature expected to hover around 29°C, the conditions are favorable to be at the cricket. At 20%, the chances of precipitation are low with a partly cloudy overhead.
Fantasy playing XI:
Shemaine Campbelle, Realeanna Grimmond, Kimberley Anthony, Mandy Mangru, Divya Saxena, Shabika Gajnabi, Tonya Martin, Sheneta Grimmond, Amanda Edwards, Jahzara Claxton, Plaffianna Millington
