Nepal Blind Women’s team beat India to take 1-0 Lead

In a thrilling Women’s Bilateral T20 Cricket Series for the Blind match held at the Pokhara Stadium in Kathmandu on April 25, 2023, Nepal defeated India by 8 wickets. Nepal won the toss and elected to field first.

India opened their innings with determination and reached 50 runs in just 5.3 overs, with 10 extras. The team continued to score at a rapid pace, reaching 100 runs in 9.4 overs, with 18 extras. The highlight of India’s innings was B2 Ganga’s impressive performance, scoring 72 runs off 71 balls, including four boundaries and a strike rate of 101.41. With the help of Simu Das and Deepika playing a handy knock, India set a target of 173/7 in 20 overs.

Nepal started their innings on a high note, scoring 53 runs in just 4 overs, with only 1 extra. Mankeshi Chaudhary and Binita Pun formed a formidable opening partnership, scoring 53 runs in 24 balls, with Chaudhary contributing 12 runs and Binita scoring a whopping 40 runs off 15 balls, including ten boundaries.

Binita Pun continued her aggressive play, scoring 100 runs off 47 balls, including seventeen boundaries, and leading Nepal to victory with ease. Chaudhary also played a crucial role, scoring 32 runs off 29 balls, with a strike rate of 110.34. Nepal reached 174/2 in just 18 overs, with Sarita Ghimire scoring 21 runs and Bnita Pun remaining unbeaten with 111 runs.

India’s bowlers tried their best, with Ganga and Varsha U taking a wicket each, but it was not enough to stop Nepal’s opening pair, who dominated the Indian bowlers throughout the match.
