The ongoing 8th edition of the Women’s T20 Asia Cup got underway on the 1st of October and below we brief you on the action from day 10, Thailand vs India face-off. The game witnessed the former batting first get to some sort of a total on the board following a collapse and India in reply chased down the required in no time to register a clinical win.

India – 40/1 (6.0)

Thailand put in to bat first cautiously got their innings underway and with 13 on board, the side lost opener Natthakan Chantham on the score of 6(11). Opener Nannapat Koncharoenkai and skipper Naruemol Chaiwai guided the team’s total to 16/1 at the end of the powerplay. In the 7th over, Chaiwai on 3(14) was run out and Sneh Rana then bowled Chanida Sutthiruang for a first-ball duck. Nannapat’s start too came to a close in the 8th over on the score of 12(19) and Sneh Rana then dismissed Sornnarin Tippoch on 2(6) and the side lost half their side with 24 on board. Thailand’s innings further sunk as Phannita Maya on 1(6), Rosenan Kanoh on 0(4) and Onnicha Kamchomphu on 0(2) were dismissed. Thipatcha Putthawong’s 5(10) and Nattaya Boochatham’s 7(17) got Thailand’s score to 37 and the dismissal of the two put an end to the side’s inning.

India with the ball had Sneh Rana register the best figures of 4-0-9-3 and the rest among wickets were Deepti Sharma and Rajeshwari Gayakwad with a couple of wickets each to their name and Meghna Singh finished with a wicket to her name.

India in reply lost Shafali Verma on the score of 8(6) with 17 on board at the end of the 3rd over and the pair of opener, Sabbhineni Meghana and all-rounder, Pooja Vastrakar who’d had started slow, caught up with an 18-run over off the last over of the powerplay to close the game out for India. The pair finished unbeaten on respective scores of 20(18) and 12(12).

The only wicket Thailand had struck had come off Nattaya Boochatham as she closed on figures of 3-0-15-1.

Result : India won by 9 wickets
