List of women’s cricket event in September 2022

Strap in, its a big one month ahead for women’s cricket with matches scheduled in prime venues around the globe with Ireland touring Scotland, as many as 7-team touring the United Arab Emirates (UAE), India touring England, and also the inaugural edition of women’s Balkan Cup.

Women’s Caribbean Premium League

The inaugural edition of the Women’s Caribbean Premier League (W-CPL) featuring three teams; Barbados Royals, Guyana Amazon Warriors and Trinbago Knight Riders got underway on the 1st of September and is scheduled to run till the 4th of September 2022, with all matches to be played in Saint Kitts.

The Women’s Hundred 2022

The 2nd edition of the Hundred got underway on the 11th of August and the tournament now moves into the knockout stages with Southern Brave set to face off Trent Rockets in the Eliminator while Oval Invincible in their 2nd successive final, looking to defend their title wait to know who they play on the big stage.

Ireland Women’s tour of Scotland

Scotland will be hosting Ireland from the 5th to the 8th of September for a three-match WT20I series at the Grange cricket club in Edinburgh. The series will serve both teams as a buildup before they travel to the United Arab Emirates for the 2023 ICC Women’s T20 World Cup Global qualifier in September.

Women’s Balkans Cup

Cricket Romania is all set to be hosting women’s national squads from Greece and Serbia for the inaugural edition of the Women’s Balkan Cup tournament from the 9th to 11th of September at Moara Vlasiei cricket ground in Ilfov county in Bucharest. The series is an important one for Greece and Serbia as they’ll be marking their T20I debuts and Romania having just debuted alongside Malta in the recently concluded Continental Cup have got to start leaving impressions.

Women’s Quadrangular T20I series

Prior to the commencement of the qualifying tournament for the upcoming T20 World Cup, the United States, Thailand, Zimbabwe, and the United Arab Emirates are to play in a Quadrangular series from the 10th to 13th of the month. This will be the most suited buildup to the mega ICC event for all of these 4 teams as all of the games on the series are set to be played at the Sevens cricket ground in Dubai where each side plays the other (3) ones.

India Women’s tour of England

India next are scheduled to play 3 ODI and T20I games each against England in September starting from the 10th of September with the opening T20I. The series is a big one for India on many fronts with them looking for a team for the future, the transition phase taking place and what tops it all is, the series marks cricket legend Jhulan Goswami’s farewell.

New Zealand Women’s tour of the West Indies

West Indies are set to host New Zealand for the first time in 8 years for as many as 8 ODI games. The series will see sides play 3 ODI and 5 T20I games from the 16th of September to the 6th of October in Antigua.

ICC Women’s T20 World Cup qualifier

The next global event on the International Cricket Council (ICC) calendar is the Women’s T20 World Cup that’ll be played early next year in South Africa from the 9th to the 26th of February. The qualifying event for the same takes place with 8 nations divided into 2 groups for the league stage games, following which the knockout matches will be played. Group A consists of Bangladesh, the United States of America, Ireland and Scotland. Group B sees Thailand, the United Arab Emirates (hosts), Papua New Guinea and Zimbabwe in the mix.
