“Relax everyone. It’s a photo of a boat,” clarifies Alyssa Healy after Twitter Backlash

Women’s cricket in the recently concluded edition of the Commonwealth Games marked its debut that had a big final played between two of the top teams. The final show at the Games saw Australia hand India a teasing 9-run defeat to clinch Gold at the Games.

On the 9th of August, Australian cricketer, Alyssa Healy took to Twitter to post an image that hasn’t been well received by the fans and has made it to the headlines for not-so-good reasons. Alyssa Healy in various ways has been trolled and criticized for posting the controversial picture which saw a blue boat that had “SALTY” written on it.

Unhappy fans within minutes opened a carnage of criticism Alyssa Healy’s way and it wasn’t long before her better-half and the leading pacer in world cricket, Mitchell Starc found himself in the mix of heat from the fans. Australian cricket team does have fairly good support that comes their way from all around the globe including India and such fans stepped in support of Alyssa Healy amid the backlash.

Alyssa Healy at present hasn’t got her bat talking in the fashion she would have wished having recorded scores of 0, 23*, 4, 14 and 7 in her last 5 T20I outings that’d come at the recently concluded Commonwealth Games. In the ODI World Cup that was played early this year, Alyssa Healy registered 509 runs across 9 matches averaging a very good 56.56. The best of Alyssa Healy had come in the final against England when she played a majestic knock of 170 runs off 138 balls that saw Alyssa Healy finish as the top run-scorer in the ICC Women’s ODI World Cup.

The backlash escalated to the level that Alyssa Healy again took to Twitter to clear her intentions stating, “😂. Relax everyone. It’s a photo of a boat in the water with the name Salty. I thought it was clever. Stop trying to read anything other into it. But if it makes you feel better to reply cruelly go nuts. Water off a ducks back!”
