SQUAD NEWS

India at the Commonwealth Games will miss overlooked player Shikha Pandey as she’s very much suited for those English conditions and tracks. In other news, India is also a couple of players short in Pooja Vastrakar and Sabbhineni Meghana who’ve been moved into strict isolation after testing positive for the virus before the team’s flight to Birmingham.

PLAYERS TO WATCH OUT FOR

Harmanpreet Kaur
Skipper, Harmanpreet Kaur has been on an excellent run in the recent past. In India’s buildup series against Sri Lanka, she bagged the player of the series award after strings of excellent performances.
Shafali Verma
Opener, Shafali Verma who’s well suited to the T20I format is a must-watch. The teenager has upped her game with a touch of maturity and it’s better than ever before.
Smriti Mandhana
Opener, Smriti Mandhana the ever elegant has had a good run in the shortest format and is familiar with what it takes at ICC events. She enjoys batting upfront with Shafali as she gets time to settle in and then go big.
Deepti Sharma
Spin all-rounder, Deepti Sharma has been very good with the ball in hand and bowls tight lines and length to frustrate the batters. She now has gone a level up in her batting which is a big bonus for India and that’s even made a confidence difference in her bowling.
