The domestic 50-over competition for Australian women begins on December 16 and will be played in two blocks due to an already packed schedule of the players. There will be six games played before Christmas followed by eight in January just before the Women Ashes which start from January 27. The second half of the season scheduled from February 14th onwards will have its matches coinciding with the ODIs between Australia and England. The Finals will be played on Sunday, March 6, two days after the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup begins.

As reported by ANI News, Cricket Australia’s Head of Cricket Operations and Scheduling, Peter Roach, said, “We’re delighted to confirm the revised 2021-22 WNCL schedule that will see a full 29-match competition delivered. The WNCL is integral to the success of our national team and maintaining the strength of the competition is a priority for Australian Cricket.”

“Like all sports, we cannot rule out facing challenges created by the global pandemic at some stage in the season. However, the lessons of the 2020-21 summer have prepared us well to be agile and adapt as required to deliver the best possible season for the players and fans,” he added

It will be the last year’s runners-up Victoria hosting the Australian Capital Territory for the league opener which will be followed by the defending champions Queensland in action against Tasmania on December 17th.
