Three days of the historic Day/Night Test at the Metricon Stadium have been completed and both teams have displayed amazing performances. One such massive feat was achieved by Australia’s Ellyse Perry who picked her 300th wicket in international cricket.
During the 143rd over on the 3rd day, Perry dismissed Pooja Vastrakar and picked her 300th wicket in international cricket across all three formats. Additionally, the all-rounder also amassed 5000 runs and became the first-ever woman to achieve this double feat.
Until now, Perry has collected 3,135 runs and 152 wickets in the WODI’s while in the T20Is she has scored 1,243 runs and 115 wickets in total. In addition to her latest records, she has several firsts credited to her name. Mastering both batting and bowling disciplines, Perry was the first player to amass 1000 runs and 100 wickets in T20Is. In the Test format, she currently holds the record for the highest score by an Australian woman (213 not out) and was the third player to scalp 150 wickets in the women’s ODIs.
Perry has also been a part of Australia’s six world championship wins, 11 WNCLS championship victories, and two wins of the WBBL championship with Sydney Sixers. She is also the recipient of several honorary awards like the Rachael Heyhoe Flint Award and Belinda Clark Award thrice. Additionally, she earned the Wisden Cricketers of the Decade 2018-19 title.

Perry’s teammate Alyssa Healy expressed her delight on the record, “It’s another incredible achievement. She’s checking off things left, right, and centre. We have to keep stopping the day’s play to make sure we celebrate everything Pez has done. It shows the sort of person she is when the umpire threw me the ball after the innings and I said ‘Pez, do you want it, it’s your 300th wicket’, and she said ‘no, give it to Stella [Campbell], it’s her first.”
We at Female Cricket would like to congratulate and salute Ellyse Perry for her milestones.
