An honour and recognition for the entire women’s cricket fraternity – Shantha Rangswamy

In a rare event in India, a former women cricketer of the country has been appointed as one of the three members of Cricket Advisory Committee (CAC) which was entrusted with the responsibility of selecting the India Men’s new head coach.

India’s former female cricketer, Shantha Rangaswamy along with veteran cricketer Kapil Dev and Anshuman Gaekwad will conduct the interviews for the same likely to be conducted in August.

Considering it to be a proud moment for women’s cricket in India, India women’s former captain said, “It is an honour and recognition not just for me but for the entire women’s cricket fraternity in India.”

Dev, Gaekwad and Rangaswamy had also appointed the India women’s head coach in December last year but it was an ad-hoc body then.

Rangaswamy is the first woman recipient of Board of Control for Cricket in India’s Lifetime achievement Award for her valuable contribution to the women’s team. She played 16 tests and 19 ODIs for India and she is the first woman cricketer to lead India to a Test series win.
