Windies were defeated by English women in the first encounter and have now taken another hit in the second match.

The five-match series now leans towards England as it leads the matchup by 2-0. England was asked to bat first as they had rough luck at the toss. Nonetheless, Windies were too rusty to make any serious damage to the English side. England was suffering at the initials phase of the match when it had lost 6 top batsmen at a total of only 96. It was left to Brunt and Glenn to take their team through. The two had an effective partnership which took the momentum of the game away from the visitors.

English side, learning from the previous match, got a whopping 51 runs in the last 30 balls. These runs came in an exchange with mere 2 wickets. After losing 8 batters, England had posted a total of 151 on the scorecard. Windies, in their batting, had a steady start. Their powerplay ended with 36 for the loss of Hayley Mathews. Experienced campaigners were in the middle for West Indies. Dottin and Taylor were more than capable of chasing any required rate. However, a stable partnership was not in the books for the day. English spinners were onto their job. Glenn proved her worth with the ball and Ecclestone and Villiers were on the money with astonishing economy rates around 4.

It is safe to say that while three matches are left for the series to have a winner, English women have emerged with the upper hand. Dropping catches has certainly not served the Windies side but the players have failed to capitalize on moments when the game felt fairly even. Windies will be looking to pull their socks up and the English side will look to seal the deal for the series. The next encounter promises to be a belter.
