Tried to Copy Smriti Mandhana’s Style, Reveals Rajasthan Royal’s Riyan Parag

Amidst a pandemic wrecking havocs throughout the globe, cricketers have come to the rescue. Alongside the monetary donations and the contributions of the society, players have also kept the entertainment boxes checked. Youngsters have risen to the occasion and have taken Instagram and YouTube by storm.

One such young sensations from the camp of Rajasthan Royals has interested the fans of Smriti Mandhana and female cricket. The all-rounder from RR came into light when he led side home against Kolkata. Interestingly, it was the debut season. Rayan is just 18 and is one of the exciting young sensations that has a promising future. In a recent interaction with a portal, he talks about his cricketing journey and the wonderful dream that IPL is.

Playing alongside greats like MSD and Kohli, he feels honored. As a youngster, players often tend to copy their heroes. Parag was no different, but her list might surprise a few. He confesses that he has copied Virat Kohli. His under-19 went well with that stance incidentally. Rohit, too, is left untouched. Parag says that his elegance made him copy the stance.

Interestingly, he tried to copy Smriti Mandhana too. However, he could suit himself to the style of the stylish left-hander. He adds that he could not adjust the timing and other technicalities. Though small, but the statement, indicates a shift. It tells that the momentum is shifting. Earlier, it was the female players who would copy and roam around male counterparts. Only a few names like Mithali or Jhulan were known to a few people. However, icons like Shafali and Harmanpreet are a household name now.

Smriti is now a social media start like other male stars. Smriti has led her side to a great height and the performance from the side in recent ICC events along with important matches have made them known to Indian masses. With star-studded companionship and an IPL contract, Ryan opts to copy Smriti and ranks her in the likes of Virat and Rohit.

The streets are telling not a different tale. Smirti and other Indian players have emerged as common household names. They have the responsibility of taking the game to a newer platform. An ICC cup would fuel the team. Indian women’s cricket is a start that will shine very soon. They shall emerge higher and find 1983 for them very soon.
