Mumbai’s innings got off to a cautious start as Amanjot Kaur and Gunalan Kamalini took their time to settle in. At the same time, the Warriorz bowlers, led by Deepti Sharma and Sophie Ecclestone, maintained a tight grip on the game. The opening pair contributed 43 runs before Amanjot was dismissed for 38 off 33 balls, caught impressively by Kranti Gaud off Deepti Sharma at 7.2 overs.

Just two overs later, Kamalini’s struggles came to an end when she was caught at mid-off by Kiran Navgire off Ecclestone for just 5 runs, leaving Mumbai at 45 for 2 in the 8th over. It was then that Nat Sciver-Brunt entered and shifted the momentum. The English all-rounder displayed an aggressive intent, scoring 65 off 43 balls, hitting nine boundaries and a six.

She, alongside captain Harmanpreet Kaur, who scored 16 off 11, forged a brisk partnership that lifted Mumbai to 74 for 3 before Harmanpreet fell while trying to accelerate the scoring. At the end of their innings, Nicola Carey contributed a steady 32* off 20 balls, helping Mumbai reach a competitive total of 161 for 5 after 20 overs, a target that seemed defendable given the pitch conditions.

In response, UP Warriorz faced some early setbacks but maintained their composure throughout the chase. Captain Meg Lanning led from the front with a steady 25 off 26 balls before getting caught by Sajana off Sciver-Brunt at 1 for 42 in the 6th over. Sciver-Brunt struck again in the same over, removing Kiran Navgire for 10 runs, leaving UP Warriorz at 45 for 2.

However, the partnership between Phoebe Litchfield and Harleen Deol changed the game. Litchfield played freely, hitting four boundaries on her way to 25 off 22 balls before being bowled by Amelia Kerr. But from that point, Harleen took control, expertly choosing her scoring opportunities to remain unbeaten at 64 off 39 balls, with 12 boundaries in total. Chloe Tryon added quick runs with a swift 27* off just 11 balls, and together they secured the win with plenty of time to spare.

Despite Sciver-Brunt’s commendable bowling figures of 2 for 28 and Amelia Kerr picking up a wicket, the rest of Mumbai Indians’ bowlers struggled under pressure, allowing Harleen to take over the game.

The Warriorz’s disciplined bowling, featuring contributions from Shikha Pandey, Deepti Sharma, Sophie Ecclestone, and Asha Sobhana, restricted Mumbai to a chaseable total, allowing them to execute their plans effectively.

This victory propels UP Warriorz Women firmly into the playoff race, while Mumbai Indians will need to reassess things after letting a golden opportunity slip away. With a clinical chase and a match-winning performance from Harleen Deol, the Warriorz left the field with two crucial points in the WPL 2026 season.
