Apart from clinching the championship, Mumbai Indians dominated the individual honors as well. Nat Sciver-Brunt claimed the Orange Cap for her record 523 runs in 10 matches and emerged as the Player of the Tournament, while Amelia Kerr secured the Purple Cap with 18 wickets, edging out her teammate Hayley Matthews, who also picked up 18 wickets but was just behind on economy rate. However, Matthews’ all-round brilliance was crucial to Mumbai’s success. Amanjot Kaur, who impressed with her bat, ball and sharp fielding, was named the Emerging Player of the Season. Meanwhile, Shabnim Ismail took home the award for bowling the most dot balls this season.

Mumbai Indians’ run in WPL 2025 got off to a disappointing start, losing to Delhi Capitals by 2 wickets in a nail-biting finish. After posting 164, courtesy of Nat-Sciver Brunt’s unbeaten 80 and skipper Harmanpreet Kaur’s quickfire 42, Mumbai failed to defend the total despite Amelia Kerr and Hayley Matthews picking up two wickets each.

Mumbai then staged a swift recovery in their next match, dominating Gujarat Giants on their home turf. Hayley Matthews led the charge, claiming 3 wickets as Mumbai restricted Gujarat to a modest 120. The chase was a cakewalk for Mumbai, with Nat-Sciver Brunt starring with a blistering 57 off just 39 balls, guiding her team to a convincing 5-wicket victory in the 17th over.

Mumbai Indians continued their winning momentum, outclassing Royal Challengers Bengaluru on their home soil. After opting to bowl, Mumbai restricted RCB to 167-7, thanks to an impressive spell by young Amanjot Kaur who picked up 3 wickets. Chasing the target, Mumbai held their nerves, completing the chase in the last over. Captain Kaur led from the front, scoring a crucial half-century, Nat Sciver Brunt scored 42 at a strike rate of 200, while Amanjot Kaur played a finishing role, guiding her team to a thrilling victory.

Mumbai Indians’ winning streak swelled to three, as they comprehensively defeated UP Warriorz by 8 wickets. Nat-Sciver Brunt was the hero of the match. She first made her mark with a 3-wicket haul, allowing UP Warriorz to reach a total of just 142. Then, with the bat, she unleashed a batting masterclass, remaining unbeaten on 75 off 44 balls, while Hayley Matthews contributed a crucial 59. Mumbai wrapped up the chase in just 17 overs, capping off a convincing victory.

However, it was Delhi Capitals who put a stop to their winning streak, as they suffered their second defeat of the season at the hands of Delhi Capitals. Mumbai’s batting line-up failed as they could manage only 123 batting first with Hayley Matthews and Harmanpreet Kaur top-scoring with 22 each. Delhi Capitals chased down the target in 15 overs, Amanjot Kaur’s lone wicket was the only consolation for Mumbai, as Delhi Capitals handed them a comprehensive defeat.

Mumbai Indians rebounded from their previous defeat, securing back-to-back victories to regain momentum. Against UP Warriorz, Amelia Kerr starred with a maiden five-wicket haul for MI in the WPL, restricting UP to 150. Hayley Matthews then led the chase, striking 68 off 46 balls, as Mumbai sealed a 6-wicket win.

Building on this success, Mumbai edged Gujarat Giants by 9 runs, defending a total of 179, bolstered by Harmanpreet Kaur’s half-century and Amanjot Kaur’s 27. The duo of Hayley Matthews and Amelia Kerr then shared 6 wickets, ensuring Mumbai’s narrow victory.

Mumbai Indians’ hopes of a direct finals berth were dashed, as they succumbed to a disappointing 11-run defeat against Royal Challengers Bengaluru in their final league match. RCB’s imposing total of 199, despite Hayley Matthews’ 2-wicket haul, proved too steep a challenge for Mumbai. Nat Sciver-Brunt’s valiant 69 off 35 balls was the lone bright spot, but ultimately, it wasn’t enough to overcome the deficit, as Mumbai fell short, finishing with a tally that would require them to navigate the eliminator to reach the finals.

Gujarat Giants’ response was stifled by Matthews’ 3-wicket haul and Amelia Kerr’s 2 wickets, as they stumbled to 166, handing Mumbai a convincing 47-run victory.

Despite losing both their league matches to Delhi Capitals, Mumbai performed when it mattered the most, defeating Delhi by 8 runs in the final. Batting first, they posted a competitive total of 149, as Harmanpreet Kaur scored 66 of 44 balls and Nat Sciver-Brunt contributed with 30 off 28. The Mumbai bowlers then struck early and often, with Sciver-Brunt picking up 3 wickets and Amelia Kerr claiming 2, to restrict DC’s chase. In the end, Delhi failed to score 14 runs off the final over as Mumbai Indians held their ground under pressure to lift their second WPL title.
