It happened in the 12th over when Meg Lanning charged down the track to loft a full delivery from Tanuja Kanwar. Positioned at mid-off, Deol reacted instantly, leaping high and extending her right hand in a breathtaking attempt. She managed to get a hand to the ball but couldn’t hold on, deflecting it upwards.

As she fell, she made another desperate attempt with her left hand, getting a decent chunk of her palm to the ball, but it ultimately slipped through her grasp, denying what could have been a catch-of-the-season contender.
