Following Delhi Capitals’ convincing win over Mumbai Indians, the Capitals’ two brightest Indian stars, Shafali Verma and Jemimah Rodrigues spoke about the win and more in a candid conversation. Rodrigues got the chat underway asking Verma about her favourite shot of the day.

“I think there (are) two – three, but I will choose the ‘step out and hit back to the side screen,” said Verma, who shared yet another solid opening partnership with Meg Lanning, setting up the 124-run chase perfectly.
Rodrigues mentioned the hard work behind Verma’s shot and how it’s a personal favourite for her too.
“That was one of the best (shots), straight as an arrow, I love that. It shows the level of confidence and the hard work you (Verma) have put in, it’s showing, keep going.”
Verma also spoke about the importance of picking up a big win towards the end of the tournament and how it’s a relief in the team camp after a string of close games.
“I think after so many tight games, this win feels nice. The pulse is normal today, but hopefully we just keep winning. Winning is important, as long as we win, it doesn’t matter (margin of victory),” shared Rodrigues.
“Victory always brings happiness,” chipped in Verma.
Rodrigues also spoke about how the Capitals haven’t been at their fluent best but still have been managing to get the results in their favour.
“I know our team hasn’t been as convincing as we usually (are) but somehow we’ve gotten over the line. Today’s game was a perfect performance, with the bat, with the ball, in the field. Now it looks like the DC team and hopefully we can continue the momentum in the games to come.”
Verma and Rodrigues also highlighted the importance of the bowling unit, talking about the experienced Shikha Pandey and Jess Jonassen and also the off-break bowler Minnu Mani, who ended with 3/17.
“They way Jess (Jonassen) bowled and also the way Shikha-di (Pandey) bowled, everyone in fact bowled very well,” said Verma.
“I think Minnu was outstanding, (her two wickets in the middle) put them down and then the fielding was excellent as well,” chipped in Rodrigues.
There’s no rest for the Capitals though, as they will be back in action tonight against Royal Challengers Bengaluru in the final game of the Bengaluru leg and Rodrigues and Verma signed off by saying that they hope to keep the momentum going.
