In the 11th match of the Women’s Premier League (WPL) 2025 between Mumbai Indians and UP Warriorz, young sensation Sanskriti Gupta delivered a spectacular spell for Mumbai Indians, helping restrict UP Warriorz to 142/9. The 20-year-old right-arm off-break bowler claimed 2 wickets for just 11 runs in 2 overs, showcasing her impressive abilities.

Gupta’s double strike in the 11th over, turned the game in Mumbai’s favor. She first trapped Dinesh Vrinda with a dragged-down delivery, which was pulled aerially but ended up in the hands of Jintimani Kalita at deep square leg.
Three balls later, Gupta yorked Tahlia McGrath with a 95.1kph delivery at the base of the off stump, leaving McGrath stunned and the off stump uprooted. This double blow in the same over dented UP’s momentum and left them reeling at 87/4, enabling Mumbai to stay in control of the match.
This outstanding performance follows her impressive showing in the previous match against Royal Challengers Bengaluru, where she claimed the crucial wicket of Kanika Ahuja.
Hailing from Madhya Pradesh, Sanskriti Gupta has been a significant contributor to her state team. She played a pivotal role in Madhya Pradesh’s 2024 Senior Women’s ODI Trophy victory, claiming 16 wickets in 9 matches. In the Senior Women’s T20 Trophy 2024-25, she picked up 5 wickets in 7 matches.
Mumbai Indians recognized her potential and snapped her up for INR 10 lakhs ahead of WPL 2025. Her early displays in the tournament suggest a promising future, as she continues to bring excitement and skill to the Mumbai Indians squad.
